The cumulative total includes all historical values, which means it grows monotonically (unless explicitly reset). If the underlying measurement changes scope (e.g., adds a new region), the cumulative total will show a jump that doesn't represent genuine growth. Should we make scope changes explicit and adjustable? See /u/plg_matrim_delgado/p/plot-0005.
